Providing 150 smallholder women in Costa Rica with the training, mentorship, and micro-grants to invest in climate change adaptation and food security projects.
Bringing together smallholder women coffee producers and specialty coffee buyers in Bean Voyage’s network for a 2-day in-person gathering in San José, Costa Rica.
Providing market readiness workshops and connecting 50 women coffee farmers in Veracruz, Mexico with independent coffee buyers in Europe and South Korea.
Connecting 30 smallholder women coffee farmers in Costa Rica with independent roasters and buyers in the U.S, Europe, and East Asia.
Stronger Than Coffee (Más que un café in Spanish) is a series of five short films about the women who grow the world's coffee, told entirely in their own voices.
2021
Provided food baskets, adaptation training and micro-grants to 100 farming families in Costa Rica.
Trained 200 smallholder women coffee producers on climate change adaptation tools.
Investigated and co-authored the first Gender Policy in coffee in Costa Rica.
Exported 11 tonnes generating USD 200,000+ in farm revenue for smallholder women coffee producers.
2020
At the height of COVID-19, Bean Voyage provided access to food baskets for 26 farming families for six months, supporting them with basic supplies, and additional social security connections.
Bean Voyage’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic to continue providing key knowledge programs and market access support to smallholder producers by leveraging existing low-cost and highly-accessible technology such as WhatsApp.
2018-2019
A 6-month entrepreneurial leadership program for 12 youth from coffee producing communities of Costa Rica.
Workshops on techniques to improve soil health for 47 smallholder women coffee farmers in Costa Rica.
Training on fermentation techniques and tools to improve coffee quality.
Farm and household finance workshops to improve business practices.
