FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Bean Voyage to Host the 2023 Women-Powered Coffee Summit in Costa Rica

[San José, October 1] – Bean Voyage is excited to announce the 2023 Women Powered Coffee Summit, a dynamic two-day event scheduled for November 2-3, 2023, at the picturesque Doka Estate in Alajuela, Costa Rica. Building upon the success of the previous year, this summit aims to bring together women from every corner of the coffee industry, including producers, exporters, importers, roasters, and baristas, to foster shared learning, create lasting connections, and promote gender equity within the global coffee sector.

The Women Powered Coffee Summit (WPCS) is a unique platform designed to facilitate authentic interactions, discussions, and collaborations across the coffee value chain. This year's focus centers on providing tools and insights for building resilient coffee businesses that benefit everyone involved in the industry. Attendees can expect a diverse range of talks and workshops, featuring topics such as the future of sustainable certifications, financing for women in coffee, running impactful coffee brands, and exploring sustainable coffee pricing models.

One of the key highlights of the event is the opportunity to connect with smallholder women coffee producers from Latin America. These women, attending an industry-level event for the first time, are actively seeking to broaden their horizons and connect with professionals who share their passion for coffee.

Amaris Gutierrez, Founder of Women in Coffee Project and Head of Coffee at Joe Coffee in New York, shared her experience from the 2022 WPCS: "I think maybe if I had to single something out, it would be that gender equity isn't just impactful and necessary for the greater sustainability of our industry because it's radical and right, but because it's productive. Women are incredible collaborators, and they know how to work toward a better future for their communities because very often they are already doing it."

In addition to gaining valuable insights and tools for success in the coffee industry, attendees can look forward to building new friendships and connections. The summit's intimate setting, with a limit of 150 participants, encourages deeper relationships and meaningful conversations. Following the two-day summit, attendees will have the opportunity to embark on field visits to coffee farms, further enriching their understanding of the industry.

In 2022, the WPCS brought together 134 participants, including 87 smallholder women coffee farmers. This year, a similar intimate gathering of coffee enthusiasts is expected, fostering an environment conducive to collaboration and innovation.

Bean Voyage is proud to continue its commitment to supporting gender equity and sustainability within the coffee sector. The Women Powered Coffee Summit serves as a catalyst for initiatives that support women in coffee and bridge gaps in understanding and collaboration across the industry.
